Back to Alaska… ITS WINTER TIME !!!
Yea, so here I go again… Back to the North for another very cold winter!!
I’ve been planning another winter leg for almost a year and at the start of this planning process, there has been four countries I’ve been focussing on. In the end decided on heading back to Alaska.
Alaska is the best location to work from with all the things that I need to get done in a very short amount of time. During the six months I’ve spend cycling across North America, 1/3 of the time I was in Alaska. In that time I’ve been in Alaska I’ve made great friends, good contacts, has two of the best fatbike manufacturers and these Alaskans… they know cold!!
The first plan was to do a three to four months winter expedition, but this changed as I was planning to get other things in place for the future. It is no secret… You can only read the name of the adventure and figure it out. Spending another winter in a extreme cold location is all about Antarctica!
During my four months in the North I will do more tests on clothing, electronics, bicycles, sledges, start to work on funding and also get more companies on board for the Antarctica continent. I’m planing to focus on my photography and then also do quite a bit of filming, as I plan to do a documentary about Antarctica, which include all winter preparations.
So, South America will have to wait a little bit longer.
There was three reasons why I cycled North America as fast as I did. Firstly, to give myself a new challenge on the adventure (going fast, hard & not much rest), secondly, to squeeze in another cold winter and thirdly, to do the necessary planning & research that I never get time for on the road.
I will be doing free motivational talks about my adventure during the four months in Alaska. If you have a business or work for a company, school or University that might be interested, just send an email to email@example.com and I will forward more information.
And for the rest of the people thats been following the adventure, stay tuned!! There is going to be lots of photos, videos, reviews on all winter gear I’ll be testing testing and a few blogs weekly. This is going to be another epic part of the adventure.
Alaska… See you in a 36 hours!!
