Chaing Dao Summit
Up at 3:40 to start our climb up Chaing Dao Summit.
The National Park is opening at 7am …. So this means that we need to sneak past the gates to start our early climb. We brought our tickets to the Park so if they catch us we can just say we paid… or that was what we were saying to ourselves.
Mads and I got to the gate at about 4:20. We switched the scooter off 50m from the gate and start to push (to get the least attention from anybody around the entrance, where some of the people live). Everything went smoothly, and the gate was actually open… Just as we smiled to how easy this is, 20m from then gates the dogs start to bark…
Going uphill pushing a scooter with dogs chasing you are not easy. After about 1-2min the dogs stopped to try to get the attention of their owners of the intruders. No light went on and we continued our scooter push. After about 500m we started the scooter and headed to the start of our climb.
I knew that it will be a difficult climb but did not expect the stamina of the girl that is climbing with me!!
The start of the climb was frikkin tough!! A steep climb!!! At a point I was actually wondering at how I will reach the summit. Not fit and struggling through the dark with my iPhone!
About an hour and a half into the climb then sun decided to bless us with some light… And that was when we got our first sight at where we was! Absolutely beautiful!! From this point when we could appreciate the beauty of Northern Thailand and forget at what your body is going through! Just keep drinking water and sweat poring down like never before! At one water stop I took off my shirt (it felt like I just jumped into water) and twisted it and the sweat was just poring out of it. I never sweated that much in my life!! Not even with the Two Oceans Marathon and The Berg River Canoe marathon!!
Our steep climb continued and Mads really pushed me to my limits!! She just kept climbing and headed for that summit!
After just 2hours and 45min we reached the summit!! The sun was just about to show his face over the beautiful mountains with mist soaring through the mountain peaks! One of that moment nobody can take away from you!!
Our braekfast 🙂
After chilling on a very cold summit (first time I was cold on my Asia trip), for about 40min we started to go down. Taking a lot of pictures as we “”ran”” down, we got back to our starting point 2hours later!
I really enjoyed the climb and I already started to work on a new idea… But this need to wait another 5 – 6 years!!! Some more great things are about to happen!!
