Chaing Mai to Luang Prabang, (Laos) Day 1
After a long struggle in my head on how to get to Laos, because of crap articles, blogs and comments on lonely planet, I just decided that I must see why everyone is complaining about the slow boat trip to Laos!!
Can it really be so bad??? Everyone is complaining about something else, so im here and want to experience this!! So….. slow boat here I come!! And I will make the best of it!!
O ja…. And it is a 3 day trip to get from Chaing Mai to Luang Prabang!!!
With absolutely crap experiences with minibuses I had to take one again! Got into it and was somewhat overloaded, but it could have been worse!
Afters 4hours we got to stop at the White Temple. One of the sights on my bucket list that I thought I wont be able to see on this trip (because of time). One of the most incredible temples I’ve seen in my life!
Got myself a lekker Watermelon Ice Cream…
When we were about to leave I was forced to climb into another minibus (don’t really know why). With another overloaded minibus I got the option to sit in front with the driver 🙂 (with all my luggage)!! For the first time I got a chance to take a nap while I can actually feel the air con!
The minibus stopped at Chaing Rai where we have to sleep the night before heading into Laos.
And from here things was about to chance…. and I don’t think anyone was expecting any of the things that was about to happen and people we were about to meet!
At 17:00 at a random place, where you have to sleep over and wait to continue, people tend to have the same ideas… Get local beer!!
As I met Pili, Zedenko and Milenko, at the 7/11 we had to wait until 18:00 to buy some beer. So we decided to go and chill at the Mekong River.. and the sun was about to set. After another great sunset we brought some beer and headed back to the hostel…
With every other guy and girl heading to Luang Prabang with the slow boat, we all had the same idea… Beer!!! So all of us got together to enjoy the half cold/warm beer and the whole trip changed!!
So in Chaing Rai we met more great people, Zach, Crystal, Luciana, Carolinne, Rose, Michael and his wife. With Zach playing his Harmonica and Crystal showing off her crazy drawing talent and listening to some music, every single person in the group just started to bond and all of us made great new friends!
After some great conversations and awesome music everyone went to bed for our loooongggg slow boat trip to Luang Prabang….
