Hoi An – Vietnam
After two days of chilling in Nha Trang and catching up on some world news, I headed to Hoi An on a sleeper bus… Another 13 hours on the bus… But I actually started to like the overnight busses!!
At the moment enjoying another one of Riaan Manser’s books… “Around Madagascar on my kayak”. A great book by a really inspiring South African adventurer!
Arrived in Hoi An at 7am and I started to look a backpackers I found on the internet… Sleepy Gecko Backpackers… Was walking around for about 30minutes before I found the backpackers… But as I was walking I knew straight away that I was going to enjoy Hoi An! When you travel around you just get that feeling when you arrive at some places, and this was one of them!!
My first day in Hoi An I just walked around the town… Walking through the food market ( very interesting smells ), along the Thu Bon River, drinking beer for R2 and just chilling out at the backpackers!!
Food….. And I found my new favourite Vietnamese dish…. Cao Lao!!! Absolutely love it and I tried about 7 different places around town!!!
Saturday… And I finally found a bar where I can watch all the Super Rugby games! 3 Dragons.. On the one TV was the rugby and the other the qualifying of the formula 1, Malaysia. It was really nice to spend the whole day watching sport… And my home team (Cheetahs) won their 3rd game on tour!!
It is just a pity the beers where extremely expensive at 3 Dragons! Twice as expensive as any other place in town… Or the places where I was.
Had a awesome time in Hoi An!! Wish I could stay a few days longer, but I need to keep moving!!
